Another Toyota Safety Concern
According to USA Today, national safety administrators are looking into yet another safety complaint made by hundreds of Toyota drivers. In addition to unexplained acceleration of its vehicles, Toyota is now under investigation for engine stalling problems in Corolla and Matrix cars from model year 2006 (those equipped with IZZ-FE engines).
On November 30, 2009, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration launched the investigation after receiving numerous complaints from drivers. The complaints report engine stalls that occur for no reason apparent on highways while driving and at stops when idling. These stalls have led to accidents.
The problem may be caused by the electronic control module or the on board computer. Consumer Reports site Toyato as having the most adverse reports for all 2008 car models.
In addition to the acceleration and stalling problems, the company has also announced that it is recalling its Tundra pickup truck because of a rust problem which can cause the spare tire to fall out while driving. This unexpected moving object has caused accidents.
