A hit-and-run crash on Highway 77 in Sawyer County left one man fighting for his life and another injured Thursday, Feb. 16.
According to various media reports, the incident left a 35-year-old Stone Lake Man in critical condition after sustaining life-threatening injuries when he was ejected from his vehicle due to the force of the impact.
Another man, 46-years-old, from Hayward, also suffered injuries as a result the collision, but his injuries were not life threatening, according to an article in Hudson Patch.
“The Wisconsin State Patrol was asked to investigate a crash that occurred during a pursuit of hit and run suspects by the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Department and the Hayward Police Department,” the article reads.
The crash occurred about 1:35 p.m. on Highway 77 at West of Hwy 63 in Sawyer County near Hayward.
The vehicle that was struck was a 2008 Pontiac G6. The driver was ejected and transported by helicopter to St. Marys Hospital in Duluth with serious injuries , Hudson Patch reports.
A passenger in the vehicle was transported to the Hayward Area Memorial Hospital by ambulance.
No other vehicles were reportedly involved in the collision.
The crash is under investigation by members of the Wisconsin State Patrol Technical Reconstruction Unit.
