One person was killed and two others injured in a 4-vehicle pile-up last Sunday afternoon on the East Side of Madison, Wisconsin.
According to an article by the Wisconsin State Journal , the crash occurred about 4:50 p.m. at North Fair Oaks Avenue on Highway 30.
According to reports, an eastbound vehicle crossed the median and struck a westbound vehicle.
Madison police said a 37-year-old man died and two other people were sent to the hospital as a result of injuries they sustained in the crash.
“A preliminary investigation report said a vehicle traveling east on Highway 30 crossed the median and struck a vehicle headed west,” an article on the WISC-TV website reads. “Madison police said a 25-year-old driver lost control of his car as he was headed east on Highway 30. He drove into a ditch and went airborne as he entered the west lanes. The car landed on an SUV, killing the 37-year-old SUV driver, a Cottage Grove man.”
A 34-year-old Cottage Grove woman was a passenger in the SUV and sustained critical, life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision. She was still hospitalized and in critical condition as of last Monday, according to a news release.
“The impact caused the SUV to collide with two other vehicles, Madison police said. One contained a 35-year-old Madison woman,” WISC-TV reports. “She suffered a minor injury. The other contained a couple from Pewaukee, a 50-year-old man and 48-year-old woman. They were not injured.”
Police said the driver of the car that crossed the median, a town of Dunn man, was sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The highway was shut down for several hours while crews worked the scene. No other information about the incident has been released.
