According to a new law singed on March 3, 2010 by Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle (D), the potentially dangerous chemical BPA will be banned in all cups sold in that State of Wisconsin for young children. The ban, which will take effect in June 2010, applies to baby bottles and sippy cups used by children 3 years and younger.
“Wisconsin’s action is the latest in a growing movement to rid children’s products of the chemical,” the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported in today’s news. Maryland, Minnesota, Connecticut, Chicago, and three counties in New York, currently have bans in effect. Meanwhile, legislation is pending in Washington, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont and Washington, DC.
If you or a loved one currently use baby bottles or sippy cups, please check your labels for the potentially dangerous ingredient BPA and discard the product immediately. If your child is having harmful side effects suspected to be from BPA in baby bottles or sippy cups, please contact an experienced Wisconsin Product Liability Attorney who can help you sort through the long and detailed process of filing a claim and seeking continued medical treatment.
