An Eau Claire man was killed while working at a Wisconsin plant on Monday afternoon.

According to various media reports, the incident occurred about 4 p.m. at Huffcut Concrete in Lake Hallie.
“The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department says Otto Kolpien, 47, was an employee at the plant,” according to an article by WEAU . “Deputies say Kolpien got pinned underneath a heavy piece of industrial equipment. The cause of the accident is under investigation.”
WEAU reports they reached out to Huffcut for comment, but the company declined to say anything other than the fact that the incident is currently under investigation and that the investigation will be ongoing.

The sheriff’s department, Chippewa Fire District, and OSHA are involved in the investigation.
The incident occurred just days before OSHA’s Labor Rights Week.
