Two people were reportedly injured the night of Wednesday, November 9 in a crash in Brown County that authorities say was caused due to an intoxicated driver.
The crash occurred on Interstate 41, according to various media reports.
“The Wisconsin State Patrol Fond du Lac Region says it was called at 6:22 p.m. to the southbound lanes at Scheuring Road near Green Bay,” an article by WBAY reads. “A 33-year-old Green Bay woman was traveling southbound on I-41 when she somehow lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a wall. A second vehicle that was traveling up a nearby on-ramp then collided with the first vehicle.”
Authorities released information about the crash the following day saying the 33-year-old woman lost control of the vehicle she was driving because she was under the influence of alcohol, according to a report by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
The Green Bay woman was seriously hurt, although authorities said her injuries were not life-threatening. She has since been arrested for Operating While Under the Influence (2nd Offense).
“A 60-year-old grandmother who was traveling with her 5-year-old granddaughter was entering the ramp to merge on to the interstate and hit the rear end of the car,” the article reads. “Both drivers were taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The child was not hurt.”
The State Patrol has said the 33-year-old Green Bay woman, whose name was not mentioned in the article, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident. The grandmother and her grandchild were reportedly buckled in.
The two right lanes of I-41 southbound were closed for about 20 minutes following the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
