A father and his daughter were killed in a Friday afternoon crash last week when their car was rear-ended by an alleged drunk driver.
According to various media reports, the two were near 4 Mile and Short roads when the pickup truck crashed into their car.
“And police reported that the driver of the pickup, who was taken to the Froedert Hospital in Wauwatosa, was arrested on two pending counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle,” an article by The Journal Times reads. “Police identified the deceased as Kevin M. Dalley, 39, and Emily Dalley, 9, both of Caledonia.”
Another child, a 6-year-old girl was a passenger in the Dalley car and was injured as a result of the crash. She was transported to Ascension All Saints Hospital in Racine following the incident.
“The driver of the truck was identified by police as Levi G. Ruohonen, 25, also of Caledonia. Police say he has a previous conviction for operating while intoxicated ,” the article reads. “ Caledonia police and fire units were dispatched at about 4:50 p.m. to 4 Mile and Old Farm Road for a crash with possible entrapment and possibly an injured child.”
According to media reports, both vehicles were eastbound on 4 Mile Road at the time of the crash. The car slowed down to turn left into a subdivision, which is when it was rear-ended by the truck.
“Caledonia Fire Department officials said that one occupant of the car was pinned between seats but no heavy equipment was necessary to remove them from the vehicle,” the article reads. “Bottom of FormFlight for Life was called to start responding toward Racine County to transport victims from the crash. A helicopter did not land at the scene, but was sent to land at the hospital. The Racine, South Shore and Oak Creek fire departments were also called to send ambulances to the scene and the South Shore Fire Department sent an engine company to assist.”
The Oak Creek ambulance transported Ruohonen to Froedtert Hospital, the regional trauma center in Wauwatosa. Traffic on 4 Mile Road was closed while crews worked at the crash scene. Wind Point and Mount Pleasant police and the Wisconsin State Patrol assisted Caledonia police at the scene.
There was no mention in the article of the extent of the 6-year-old’s injuries or who she is in relation to Kevin M. Dalley.
