One person is dead following a multi-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck. According to various media reports, the incident occurred last Saturday morning on I-35 near Osceola. A Wisconsin woman died as a result of injuries she sustained in the crash.
The crash reportedly happened about 10 a.m. as the woman was traveling southbound on Interstate 35.
“According to a crash report, the woman’s vehicle started slowing down when a semi-truck behind her struck her (vehicle), causing the woman’s vehicle to strike a cable barrier in the median,” an article on the KCCI-TV website reads. “Three vehicles were involved in the crash, which was a result of slick, wintry conditions.”
Officials had not released the names of the victims as of last Tuesday afternoon. There was also no information in regards to whether or not anyone else was injured in the crash or if anyone involved is potentially facing charges in connection to the crash.
An average of 559 people died each year on Wisconsin roads between 2009-2014 and an average of 40,373 were injured each year, according to information posted on the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) website.
When it comes to large trucks, there was an average of 6,301 large truck crashes each year between 2009-14 and an average of 68 people each year died from injuries they sustained as a result of a crash with a large truck.
An average of nearly 2,000 people are injured in a crash with a large truck on Wisconsin roads each year, according to the Wisconsin DOT.
