A Wisconsin man died last week in a head-on collision between a car and a semitrailer truck. The man, from Brillion, was 21-years-old, according to various media reports on the incident.
The collision occurred Friday on U.S. 10 just west of Calumet County D in Woodville.
“ Dakota A. Steinmetz was a passenger in the car and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Calumet County Sheriff’s Department,” an article published by the Post-Crescent reads.
The collision happened just before 4:45 p.m. Friday.
Heather Besaw-Benz, who is 23-years-old and from Neenah, was reportedly traveling east on U.S. 10 when she lost control of her vehicle. Besaw-Benz then crossed the center line and traveled into the westbound lane where she struck the semi-truck.
Steinmetz was a passenger in Besaw-Benz’ vehicle. The truck was driven by 56-year-old Donald Guzowski, from Green Bay.
Road conditions are suspected to be connected to the incident.
“Road conditions were very poor at the time of the crash ,” Lt. Bill Tyson of the sheriff’s department told the Post-Crescent. “After the crash with the truck, Besaw-Benz’s car hit an eastbound vehicle driven by Gina Glover, 42, of Menasha.”
Besaw-Benz was injured as a result of the crash and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Also injured were Guzowski, Glover and a passenger in Glover’s vehicle, Scott Rice, 46, of Neenah. All parties were transported by ambulance to area hospitals to be treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to the news story.
A section of U.S. 10 between Harvestore Road and County D didn’t reopen until 3 a.m. on Saturday, according to the Wisconsin State Patrol.
