One person is dead following a Sunday crash in Brown County, Wisconsin. Various media reports say the incident occurred on the shoulder of Interstate 41 just before noon.
The Green Bay Press-Gazette reports that authorities closed part of the road for more than three hours to investigate the fatal crash.
“Police said a car slammed into [another] car that had stopped on the west shoulder of I-41 just before noon, killing a man in the stopped car,” the Green Bay Press-Gazette article reads. “The victim’s identity is not being released until family can be notified.”
Southbound 41 was closed until almost 3:30 p.m. as authorities investigated the crash scene.
Hobart-Lawrence Police Lt. Dan Van Lanen said in a news release sent to the newspaper that a 29-year-old Green Bay man was driving the car that struck the parked vehicle. Speed and other factors are thought to be what caused the crash.
Reports say that criminal charges are pending in connection to the incident.
“Authorities detoured southbound traffic west on Scheuring Road, to south on Mid Valley Drive to Brown County S to 41,” the Green Bay Press-Gazette reports.
The crash was immediately south of Scheuring Road.
