An elderly woman from Milton died Wednesday in a crash in Janesville.

According to media reports, the woman, who was a passenger in a vehicle, was 89-years-old.
“Around 3 p.m., police were called to the intersection of E. Racine Street and Midland Road near St. Mary’s Hospital,” an article by WKOW reads. “They say a vehicle going west on E. Racine Street turned left into the path of an oncoming truck. The crash sent both vehicles off the road and into another car stopped at the exit of the hospital.”
The woman who was a passenger in the vehicle that was turning was pronounced dead at St. Mary’s Hospital. Her name has not been released because family members are still being notified.
“The driver of the vehicle that was turning was admitted to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The truck driver also went to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries,” the article reads. “The driver of the car that was stopped at the hospital exit was treated and released.”
The driver who caused the crash was cited for failing to yield the right of way while making a left turn resulting in the death of another.
No other information has been released regarding the crash; including what type of injuries the other people sustained or what department is handling the investigation.
There was an average of 509 fatalities on Wisconsin roads from 2009 to 2014, according to statistic from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. Three hundred and seventy nine people have been killed by motor vehicle incidents so far in 2016. The DOT reports 61 people were killed in July and there have been 42 fatalities on Wisconsin roads in August.
