The Wisconsin Department of Transportation released information Thursday about a three-vehicle crash on I-94 in Dane County, Wisconsin.
Four people have died as a result of injuries they sustained in the crash and two other people have been hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
The incident occurred near Deerfield on the eastbound lane of I-94, according to various media reports about the crash.
“According to a press release from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the Wisconsin State Patrol responded to a report of an SUV driving erratically just before 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday,” an article posted on the WMTV website reads. “When responding units tried to catch up to the SUV, it turned around in the eastbound lanes of I-94 and began driving against traffic, officials say. A responding trooper was nearly hit head on, but avoided the collision and continued pursuit.”
Officials told reporters with the news station that the SUV then collided head-on with two sedans.
“Three passengers in one sedan were pronounced dead at the scene. They have been identified as 26-year-old Katy Pasqualini of Milwaukee, 28-year-old Kimberly Radtke of Pewaukee, and 26-year-old Clenton Hall of Waterloo,” the Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal article reads “The driver of that sedan, 28-year-old Brian Falk, male from Whitefish Bay, was extricated and flown to the hospital via Med Flight with life-threatening injuries.”
The driver of the second sedan was alone when the SUV collided with it. Authorities have reported that 23-year-old-male Patrick Wasielewski from Northbrook, Illinois, who was the driver of that vehicle, was also pronounced dead at the scene as a result of injuries he sustained in the crash.
“The driver of the SUV, 32-year-old male Brysen Willsmale from Waunakee, is in the hospital with critical injuries,” the article reads.
Officials have said they do suspect alcohol contributed to the crash, but the article does not mention what indications were visible – or what charges Willsmale faces in connection to the crash.
The incident is still under investigation as of late Thursday afternoon.
