One person is dead following a 2-vehicle crash in Buena Vista.
Various media reports, reported the crash occurred in the Portage County township of Buena Vista.
“According to a press release, dispatch received a report at 2:28 p.m. Tuesday afternoon of a crash at the intersection of County Highway J and County Highway N,” an article by WSAU reads. “A 59-year-old male pickup driver from Waushara County was driving southbound on County Highway J. He was hit by an SUV that failed to stop at a stop sign. The SUV was driven by a 31-year-old female from Iowa.”
The pickup truck reportedly entered the southeast ditch and overturned once following the incident. The driver of that truck was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
The SUV driver was also injured, but escaped with non-life threatening injuries.
“She was taken to Saint Michael’s Hospital. There were no passengers in either vehicle,” the article reads.
The names involved in the crash were not released as of late Wednesday afternoon on Nov. 30 – pending family notification.
There is no mention in the article as to what charges, if any, the driver of the SUV faces.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, there have been 548 fatalities as a result of crashes on Wisconsin roads so far this year. There were 60 deaths as a result of a vehicle crash in November. Last year, 555 people died on Wisconsin roads, 61 more than in 2014.
The Wisconsin DOT website shows that one other person has died in Portage County this year as a result of a vehicle crash. Three people died last year on Portage roads, four less than in 2014.
