Multiple people landed in the hospital last Friday night after a chain-reaction crash in Brown County. According to various media reports, at least three people, one of them a sheriff’s deputy, were transported to an area hospital due to injuries they sustained in connection with the crash.
“At about 10:30 p.m., a deputy responded to a vehicle slide off in the median of northbound Interstate 41, near County Road S., an article on the FOX-11 News website reads. “While outside of the sheriff’s squad car discussing the incident with a Suamico tow truck driver, a 19-year-old Appleton-area driver hit the back of the tow truck at a highway speed.”
According to FOX-11, due to the high-rate of speed, the tow truck rushed forward at the time of impact and knocked both the deputy and the wrecker driver to the ground before rear-ending the squad car.
“The tow truck went over the top of the deputy and wrecker driver, forcing them to crawl out from underneath,” the article reads. “The 19-year-old had to be freed from his vehicle and was taken to a hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.”
The deputy and wrecker driver were also taken to area hospitals with injuries. Both were reportedly treated and released.
No other information about the incident has been released, including what authorities believe caused the crash or whether or not the 19-year-old driver will face any charges in connection to the crash.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
