Golfers in Massachusetts played to support the Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts. On Monday, June 23rd, Laura Herman, the Golf Classic chairman, welcomed the groups of golfers. Herman has been involved with the Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts (BIA-MA)
The event raised $25,000, which goes directly to BIA-MA for support, prevention, education and advocacy. The players enjoyed a day of challenge on the parkland-style course. After the game was finished, everyone was invited for dinner and a silent auction as well as a live auction to benefit the cause.
The highlight of the day was the survivor speaker Ryan Farrell. Farrell suffered from a traumatic brain injury in April 2010 during a cheering competition in New York. She has overcome many obstacles in her long, tough road of recovery and has just realized her dream of graduating college with her bachelor’s degree in communications.
The Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts is a private non-profit organization that provides support to brain injury survivors and their families. They also offer programs to prevent brain injuries as well as educating the public on the risks and impacts of brain injury. The BIA-MA advocates for funding for brain injury survivors, they support legislation to prevent brain injuries, and they also collaborate with state agencies and other associations on education campaigns.
This event was made possible by supporters and sponsors including Corporate Sponsor Spaulding Rehabilitation Network and their Platinum Sponsor ICD Institutional Cash Distributors, LLC.
